"Austria Reports" are my impressions of the various aspects and faces of Austria. When originally conceived, it was to be a personal journal-travelogue developed as I became reacquainted with the land of my birth during a month-long "grand-tour" of Austria in 1993. As a trip account, it should be read from the bottom up (oldest post first). I hope it enterains, but my aim is to morph "Austria Reports" into a general conversation starter on all things Austrian.

By special request, an essay on Austria's post-Christmas/pre-Lenten festivities: "FASCHING AND THE BALL SEASON" which shall include my commentary on the crown jewel of all balls, the annual Austrian "Opernball." Sincerely, Erika
